Internationalization

Internationalization and localization are means of adapting products such as publications, hardware or software for non-native environments, especially other nations and cultures. The distinction between internationalization and localization is subtle but important. Internationalization is the adaptation of products for potential use virtually everywhere, while localization is the addition of special features for use in a specific locale. The processes are complementary, and must be combined to lead to the objective of a system that works globally.
As competition heats up, companies are looking to move to geographies where competition is lesser or the market is expanding faster, while others are looking to target niche areas in mature markets. ValueLabs is ideally based to support clients in both types of activities.
We have experience with internationalization and localization with both existing software (which might not have been built for such extensions) as well as ground up development incorporating these functions. We have helped clients stretching from the Far East to Europe to the US incorporate these features in their offerings. A case in point is Snapfish (www.snapfish.com, a division of HP) that is launching in 17 countries this year (across 11 spoken languages). This piece was completely conceptualized, architected, built and deployed by us. It will also be maintained by us.
At the same time, we also have the set up to help our clients with testing products and services that they have created in multiple spoken languages for an international clientele. We have the lab setup and the experience to test over 20 spoken languages.
