Responsibilities
• Creatively solve problems at all levels of detail: from the big picture to the nuts and bolts. • Conduct user research including interviews and observations, analyze and compile research findings including journey maps and personas. • Lead concept exploration exercises and moderate design sprints. • Create flow diagrams and wireframes to communicate UI design concepts. • Build conceptual prototypes to explore interactive behaviors and front-end technological capabilities. • Collaborate with cross-functional project stakeholders to establish design directions that meet market requirements while balancing user needs with technical capabilities. • Tell compelling stories about users and products to support your work. • Partner with Visual Designers to apply engaging visual styles to wireframes and conceptual prototypes. • Collaborate with our Design Technologists to ensure the front-end technologies are implemented with integrity and quality. • Coordinate and execute usability evaluations with target users and distill findings into actionable results. • Contribute to the development and expansion of "Magnetic", Mitchell’s design system. • Develop project plans and coordinate schedules to establish appropriate goals, milestones, and deadlines.
Requirements
• 3+ years professional experience designing useful, usable, and meaningful user interfaces. • BS/BA in Design, HCI, HF, Cog Sci, Comp Sci or related field, Masters is preferred. • Proven effectiveness in championing users’ needs and customers’ best interests within cross-functional teams. • Knowledge of journey mapping and persona development. • Experience leading contextual inquiry observational research, and compiling findings. • Experience conducting usability evaluations including think-aloud and performance studies . • Experience using rapid prototyping tools such as Axure, Figma, and Sketch. • Experience with standards documentation and design systems. • Adeptness at both giving and receiving detailed design critiques. • Strong communication and presentation skills • Solid technical writing and documentation skills • Track record of collaborating successfully with cross-functional teams • Experience working within agile development processes • Deep appreciation of well-designed and crafted things • Close attention to detail and clarity of the big picture • Constant curiosity and love of learning • An open mind and positive attitude • A portfolio of representative work
