ValueLabs today announced the successful commissioning of its 13 MW solar power plant (5 MW solar power plant in Kadiri, Ananthapur and 8 MW solar power plant in Jadcherla, Mahabubnagar) from March this year. The estimated power generated from this plant will be 1.8 million kWh per month. The company estimates that this scale of capacity will efficiently meet all its energy needs for its planned growth over the next 3 years. With this, ValueLabs is likely the first IT company in India to have set up its own solar power plant with a capacity that can meet 100% of its energy demand.
“India has immense potential for power generation from renewable energy sources, particularly solar. We wanted to leverage this at ValueLabs, to be completely energy self-reliant. These power plants were commissioned, and have been operational, from March this year. Phase I was commissioned in March 2013 and Phase II in March 2014. We are now in the process of drawing this power for captive use” said Mr. Krishna Reddy, Senior VP – Operations.
