ValueLabs, an IT services company, has entered into a partnership with Malaysian multimedia group, ASTRO ALL ASIA NETWORKS plc (Astro), to launch a web cam video chat service on Astro’s Sun Music Channel. The web cam VideoChat on TV was made available to viewers on April 14.
The VideoChat on TV enables Astro’s viewers to watch, chat and listen to the video chat by activating the dual track audio functionality. The dual audio function has two tracks – one carries the music from the main video while the other carries the guest’s voice from the web cam video file. Viewers have a choice if they would like to hear the guest speak, while the voice from the main music video recedes into the background.
As part of Astro’s value added proposition to our customers we are offering our customers a Video Chat service, which in turns helps build a connected community. The Video Chat function allows the customers to fully participate in a show and have real interaction with the hosts and guests as well as the other viewers right from the comfort of their living room,” said an Astro spokesperson.
ValueLabs Senior Vice-President, Global Delivery, Kiran Kumar said, “It’s a whole new experience for Astro’s viewers. This service engages TV audience with enhanced interactive elements. Astro has always been in the forefront in pushing the frontiers of technology. The company has designed interactive programs such as Akademi Fantasia, MobileTV, Video-on-demand and Interactive Advertisements, which were path-breaking and have become benchmarks for the entire media industry in South-East Asia. The VideoChat on TV initiative is the latest in this series of innovations. ValueLabs feels privileged to be a partner in Astro’s success story by contributing our mite in the multimedia group’s vision of creating exciting and delightful experiences to its customers.”
