ValueLabs licenses RDK from Comcast

ValueLabs announces the licensing of the Comcast Reference Development Kit (RDK) – a pre-integrated software bundle that provides a common framework for powering IP / hybrid set-top boxes and video gateway devices. This licensing enables ValueLabs to accelerate development and deployment of next-generation video services based on DLNA, HTML5 and cloud-based functionality. ValueLabs helps operators and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) create enhanced multi-screen, multi-room TV home entertainment services that are interoperable and offer enriched user-experience.

Comcast licenses the RDK to OEMs, System-on-Chip (SOC) companies, software vendors, software integrators and multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs) to create a community of innovators focused on bringing richer and faster multi-screen TV home entertainment experiences to consumers.

“As an RDK licensee, our objective is to help the operators’ community and OEMs to utilize the potential of RDK to create faster market solutions complying with industry standards”, said Ram Manjeri, Senior VP at ValueLabs. “We support operators in development, deployment and integration of enhanced multi-room-gateways, and to provide multi-device services in an efficient and cost effective manner”, he further added.

With its decade-long experience in providing media & entertainment (M&E) solutions, ValueLabs helps M&E players bring innovative, revenue-generating solutions and services, while keeping pace with changing consumer behavior.
