Overview

Our client, a leading US-based airline, operated at a significant scale and required a modern application platform capable of supporting their frontend, backend, and wrapper workloads without compromising on availability or recovery readiness. Their existing on-premises infrastructure posed growing challenges around scalability, operational complexity, and resilience during outages or regional failures.

When they approached us, we identified the need for a containerized, cloud-native architecture that could simplify deployments, optimize resource utilization, and support seamless scaling. We partnered with them to design and deploy a resilient AWS-based platform using Amazon ECS, transforming their infrastructure into one that was scalable, observable, and disaster recovery-ready.

Challenges

As an airline operating at a significant scale, our client was at a natural inflection point in their infrastructure journey. While the need to modernize was clear, the transition had to be seamless, with no disruption to ongoing operations or customer-facing services.

Scalability constraints Operational complexity Recovery unpreparedness
  • On-premises infrastructure couldn't scale to meet dynamic workload demands
  • Slow, manual deployments increased risk and time-to-delivery
  • No disaster recovery setup left the airline vulnerable to extended downtime

Our Solution

We designed and deployed a containerized microservices architecture on AWS, enabling high availability, automated operations, and disaster recovery across all application layers.

  • Deployed frontend, backend, and wrapper services on Amazon ECS with load balancing
  • Established managed data persistence using Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL with Multi-AZ configuration
  • Implemented container image management via Amazon ECR with centralized CloudWatch observability
  • Automated infrastructure provisioning using IaC with ECS scaling and auto-recovery
  • Configured a secondary AWS region DR environment with sub-one-hour RTO
